The federal tax credit explained

Up to $7,500 — but there are rules.

Vehicle eligibility
Must be assembled in North America. Battery over 7 kWh. Price caps: $80k for SUVs/trucks, $55k for cars.
Income limits
Adjusted gross income under $150k (single) or $300k (joint). Based on current or prior tax year.
How it works
Non-refundable tax credit — reduces your federal tax liability. Starting in 2024, dealers can apply it at point of sale.
Used EV credit
$4,000 or 30% of sale price (whichever is less) for qualifying used EVs under $25,000 from a licensed dealer.
